Fear is one of the most common word that we encounter in our day-to-day life. We all have one or the other kind of fear. Elders sometimes instill fear in young children to refrain them from doing certain things or when we want to make them obey us. And that fear remains in the [1]subconscious mind of children and it branches out further to their future lives.
We fear so many things and the list can be so long. These are a few examples; fear of sickness, fear of failure, fear of death, fear of losing our loved ones, fear of rejection by God, fear of darkness, fear of being lonely, fear for the future, and so on.

Fear can do a lot of harm to us. It snatches our happiness and peace of mind. We are so much scared of our future results, that it ruins our present and ultimately it affects our output negatively.
For instance, let us talk about fear of sickness or illness. If we continuously think about the risk of contracting any sickness it will disturb us so much that it will have a bad impact on our immunity because good mental health is equally important and crucial for good physical health.

Another kind of fear is the fear of failure. This kind of fear is dangerous as it will not let us discover our potential and talent, it won’t let us come out of our safe comfort zone to do something great or [2]exemplary. We cannot gather enough courage to try something new due to the fear of being laughed off by the people if we fail. We forget that if we succeed in our plan our life will be changed forever and can inspire many more lives.

Fear of death is also not uncommon, but for those who are in Christ, death is not an end, it’s the beginning of eternal life. We are pilgrims on this earth and we have to go back to our hometown to meet our heavenly Father, but when we are so much involved in worldly things, we consider this earth as our permanent home and we are then scared to die, so we have to be in the constant presence of God to stay connected to Him.

Fear of the future is yet another aspect of fear. Instead of enjoying the blessings of today, most of us are worried about the things that are yet to happen. There is no age barrier to that. Children are worried about their studies and career, whereas adults keep themselves engaged in making their future secure, but we should always remember that God holds our future and we should always put our trust in Him and His plans.

Let us [3]contemplate what Bible wants to teach us about fear.

Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my right hand.”  Read Bible Verse

Again Isaiah 43:1 says “But now thus says the Lord, He who created you, O Jacob, He who formed you O Israel, ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have called you by name, you are mine.”  Read Bible Verse

We are in the hands of God, who created heaven and earth and who is in control of everything that happens in this entire universe. He loves us unconditionally and He takes care of us like an apple of his own eyes. Bible says even the very hairs on our head are all numbered. Do not be afraid, you are more valuable than many sparrows. This means that God cares about the smallest details of our lives, contrary to what we sometimes imagine, God is not only concerned about the major issues we face, our victories and our failures, He is in fact aware of and involved in the smallest matters of His children’s lives.

This does not mean that God will not allow any difficulties or hardships in our lives, rather He will strengthen His children to face any difficulty with faith and courage to emerge out victorious. So, we should not interpret difficult times as being abandoned by God rather it’s a way of refining us to make us more valuable and precious. So cast out all the fears that exists in our hearts and put all our trust upon God who loves us with His eternal love.
